Capitalism purports to offer the freedom to choose, but what it actually delivers is the illusion of choice.  Nowhere is this more important than in mass media and public discourse, which of course has not only economic but also political implications.  This chart says it all.

  1. 90% of what is available to read, watch or listen to? Or 90% of what is actually read, watched or listened to?

    It does require a kind of constant vigilance to avoid them. This is why we don’t watch the television, it is so dominated by this sort of thing. The argument about whether T.V. is a bad medium, or just a carrier of bad messages, has become sort of irrelevant.

    This infographic does not address publishing companies. That would be interesting to see.
